sept 29/RUN

5 miles
minnehaha falls and back
62 degrees / humidity: 80%

Overcast with thick air, humid. Wore shorts and a tank top. I’m ready for cooler, crisper weather. It’s coming. More leaves are changing — deep reds, some yellow, orange. Still more green than not. 5 or so wild turkeys hanging out at the edge of the falls parking lot. Running closer to the light rail station, I could hear the bells — they were out of sync, maybe one train coming into the station with their bells at a different rate than another train leaving?

Before heading out for my run, I refreshed my memory on another poem I’ve memorized before: “I heard a Fly buzz when I died” by Emily Dickinson. Love the last lines: And then a Window shut/ And then I could not see to see.

Listened to the steady line of cars, the rush of falling water, the wind through the trees, the out of sync train bells, a leaf blower on the way there. Listened to my “Hello Goodbye” playlist on the way back.
