20 minutes with Delia
neighborhood
44 degrees / rain
Rain all day, so no running and only a short walk with Delia the dog. Cooler weather has come and leaves are falling. My favorite moment on the walk was when Delia stopped in front of a maple (I think it was a maple) that was a beautiful pinkish red. A lot of the leaves were already on the ground, staining the grass pinkish-red, but the tree didn’t look bare, just a little thinner. Pinkish red might be my favorite fall leaf color.
When I got home I make my spider web for the cork board. It’s a decoration for Halloween. I need to work on making the inner most orbs tighter; they’re very messy. I need a tighter warp, I think.

I’d like to do some sort of visual poem/art inspired by my love of Wallace Stevens’ poem, “Tattoo”:
Light is like a spider….
It crawls under your eyelids
And spreads its webs there—
It’s two webs.
The webs of your eyes
Are fastened
To the flesh and bones of you....
How could I turn this into a visual poem? I’d like to take my Holes 3 poem and make it more web-like. Here are the words:
Fall through the hole
your eyes can’t see
land in a logic
of blur and almost.
Read sentences sliced
in half, each one
glitching just enough
to scramble what is real
and imagined.
Swap out the dead-eyed liturgy
of doomed vision
for looks
that shimmer with strangeness.
in a scramble looks logic
eyes read blur
as what is
I’m thinking of using white thread and creating a funnel/sheet web instead of orbed one. I’ll try it out tomorrow morning.
