Year 10

Today, January 12, 2026, begins my tenth year of writing in RUN!. It is the third blog that I have regularly written in: 1. TROUBLE (2009-2013) , 2. STORY (2013-2017), and 3. RUN! (2017-present). As of today, I have 2,586 posts. Not every single post follows the formula of 1. go outside and move by the gorge, then 2. return home to write about it, but most of them do. That’s one consistent practice! I am proud of what I have done here, and I am grateful to my past selves for taking the time to document our life, and the life of a small stretch of land whose borders are defined both by how far my feet can regularly take me and how far I can go and still hear the local bells: the bells of St. Thomas.

Goals, as imagined on 12 January 2026

  1. Run the Twin Cities Marathon again in October
  2. Have my first collection, Echolocate || Echolocated published
  3. Run 1000 miles and Swim 200 miles
  4. Do some sort of public installation (either formal, with my vision poems, or informal by the gorge)
