note: I’m writing this summary on 21 sept 2026. I hadn’t realized I was this far behind with monthly challenge summaries! Was I distracted because of Delia’s leg injury/prehab/surgery/rehab? The smoke and heat and congestion/allergies/sickness I experienced this summer? Too many ideas to focus on any of them?
With the start of the open swim season, much of this month was about swimming. But, before that: spiders and spider webs!

4 june: a persistent spider on my desk offers an invitation — pay attention to me! Spiriti Visivi and Wallace Stevens’ “Tattoo” and threads of a web as the barely visible trail of vision from eye to object. Applying this to one of my hole/how to read visual poems.
5 june: how to make a spider web, why spiders make webs, a spiriti visivi/Dante source: Visionary Science in Purgatorio XVII and Paradiso XXX.
6 june: a first attempt at a web
8 june: orbs (as spiraled web, an eye), a reference in Oswald’s Nobody, the precise calculated work of a spider.
15 june: making a web, placing it over a New Yorker essay/found poem, getting inspiration from the NASA drugged-out webs
23 june: (related) weeds, nets, entanglement, unraveling, knots/knotted
24 june: ED and seams, being stitched up, Penelope and the weaving and unweaving of the funeral shroud
note from 21 sept 2026: I’m thinking I would like to return to these spider webs now. It seems fitting for Halloween season.
